Landcraft Employees go back to School – November 2014

Having recently completed the soft landscaped works to the first phase of the new Penarth Learning Centre, On a wet and cold November morning we went back to school to help Year 7 and 10 pupils from St Cyres School plant a selection of native hardwood trees that had been donated to them by the woodland trust.

Monmouth Raft Race in Celebration of our 21st Anniversary – September 2013

To celebrate that we have now been in business for 21 years, we again entered two teams in the annual Monmouth Raft Race organised by the Rotary Club of Monmouth in support of St Davids Hospice Care. The race again took place over a 6.5 mile course on the river Wye. Last year we managed to raise over £1000.00 for charity and our target this year is to raise even more!

Landcraft Sponsor Malpas United Football Club Under 10s – August 2013

We are pleased to announce that we have sponsored Malpas United Football Club Under 10s. The club is intending to put the sponsorship towards the cost of providing each of the players with a training top for the coming season. The under 10s group have been established for four years and they support 20 players through two 7-a-side teams playing in the Newport and District Junior League.


Landcraft Continue to Support Bargoed RFC – July 2013

We are pleased to continue our support of Bargoed RFC as we have again this year provided sponsorship of one of their home games. This year we are the game sponsor for their final home fixture of 2013 against Tondu RFC which is to be played on 14th December 2013.

New Vice Chairman for BALI Wales Region – February 2013

Following the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) Wales Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 27/02/13, we are pleased to announce that Barry Upton (who holds the position of Managing Director at Landcraft), has been elected as Vice-Chairman of the BALI Wales Region. After serving as the Vice Chair for two years, Jodie Read has now been elected as Chair of the region.


Monmouth Raft Race in Celebration of our 20th Anniversary – September 2012

We entered two teams in the 47th annual Monmouth Raft Race which took place over a 6.5 mile course on the river Wye in celebration of us having now been in business for 20 years. In doing so we raised over £1000.00 for charity. The race was organised by the Rotary Club of Monmouth in support of St David`s Hospice Care.

Having congregated in the car park of the Taff Valley Activity and Quad Centre and with no tweed in site, we were all bundled into the back of a farm Landrover and taken for a brisk jaunt across VERY agricultural roads to the shooting range to partake in an evening`s clay pigeon shooting

Landcraft Paint the Town Red – June 2011

Our latest summer social took the form of a woodland encounter with gun slingers who shoot from the hip; Paintball was the order of the day. The evening?s events took place just outside Cardiff at a local paintball venue in woodland near Cowbridge. With the chance to settle some old scores and legally shoot the boss, the evening was well attended.

We are very pleased to announce that we have recently become accredited under the SMAS Worksafe Contractor Scheme as recognised by SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement). The assessment involved evaluating our Health and Safety documentation, safety records, accident record etc. This accreditation complements our existing CHAS and SAFEcontractor accreditations.

Landcraft Joins the Dry Stone Walling Association – January 2011

Dry stone walling is prospering with an upsurge in interest in the environmental value of walls and the growth in prestigious garden, landscape and artistic projects. Dry stone walls are an important feature of the British landscape which should not be taken for granted. We have been undertaking projects involving dry stone walling for a number of years now and many of our staff hold Lantra qualifications in dry stone walling achieved through the Dry Stone Walling Associations Craftsman Certification Scheme. In recognition of the amount of dry stone walling projects that we are now undertaking, we have recently joined the Dry Stone Walling Association as corporate members. The main aims of the Association are to promote a greater understanding and knowledge about the traditional craft of dry stone walling and to encourage the repair and maintenance of dry stone walls throughout the country.


Garden all set to bloom in memory of town hero Ted – November 2010

Flowers will bloom next spring in the shape of a Victoria Cross in this memorial garden which we have built which is dedicated to one of South Wales greatest war heroes.

The evening began at Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay where we were strongly advised by our ?skipper? to wear the waterproof clothing provided. As we boarded the speed boat and started our journey to the sound of Sponge Bob Square Pants blaring from the onboard speakers, little did we know quite what was in store for us.

BALI National Landscape Principal Award Winner – December 2008

We are very proud to announce that we have been awarded the Principal Award for Land Renewal and Regeneration at the prestigious British Association of Landscape Industries National Landscape Awards 2008 ceremony for our 'Riverside Park' project in Mountain Ash. The ceremony was held in The Great Room at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London on Friday 5th December. The judges commented that "the contractor, through the careful and skilful use of the materials to hand, has succeeded in regenerating a derelict area that would otherwise have continued to blight this community. The result of their work is a valuable and popular public open space?.

A Clean Sweep – November 2008

We are pleased to have recently added a Johnston Madvac PS300 compact sweeper to our plant fleet. The pedestrian-friendly sweeper is very efficient at cleaning litter, leaves, moss etc. from paved areas. It features powerful twin brushes and a vacuum collector and a wander hose to allow access to even the most difficult to clean areas. With this addition to our fleet we will be able to offer an enhanced and more efficient service to our grounds maintenance clients. The machine will also be invaluable in helping us to keep our new build sites clean as works progress.

The Fleet Keeps Growing – February 2006

Having reviewed our recent plant hire costs, we have purchased a 3 tonne swivel skip dumper to compliment our existing plant fleet. Other items of plant already included within our fleet include both high lift and tracked dumpers, mini excavators, a JCB 3CX backhoe loader, tractors, specialist cultivation equipment and both front mounted and mid mounted ride on mowers.
